I have had a few posts and did the search ,

Here we go ........ the moog springs @ RCM , i read they are a high riding sppring in the front end . A few people have cut 1 & 1.5 coils off the front , but would 2 whole coils be to much if i'm lookin to go low .

Would i face clearence issues ?

What do u think the gap would be from the tire to fender would be .

If u look @ the SHOFOURM sign , @ the top of the page . I't randomly switches from gen 1 to 3 . well that gen 2 that is lowered and has its wheels turned ( thats bad *** ) . can i go that low ? ......... thats what i'm going for . or maybw a bit higher

please help me out before i costing my self a lot of dough .........

If you want to do it right get the Coil-overs from midwest sho. If you can't swing the $$ for them and already have the springs, 1.5 is the most I would go. Cut too much and your stuck with it, it stresses the CVs more and the front valance will be all scratched up form curbs, parking spot stops, sloped driveways and everything else. I have eibachs and 50series tires on slicers and it sits pretty low. I cant get a jack under the car with out pulling up on 2x6s first.

Ron makes a good point...with my GenII ATX, I experienced an 1" drop with 1.5 coils cut. I have to drive over a 2x4 to get my floor jack underneath the front end.

It's low enough at this point. Looks good and does not cause too much undo stress. I have also not had a problem with bottoming out, tires hitting the well, or the struts banging...

there are several variations of the Moog springs. all are commonly referred to as "Cargo Coils." when i recieved mine, the box said "Control Coils." either way, both are heavy duty units but there are differences. ride height, compressed height, weight rating are a few examples.

cutting coils on one spring will create different effects than that of another spring. personally, i cut 1 1/2 coils on the front and got a 2" drop. another person(i think it was Kenny), cut 1 coil and also recieved a 2" drop. we both used the same spring. his a 89 or 90, mine a 91. i only cut the extra half coil to maintain spring geometry.

When you cut the spring, how do you make it level/horizontal to sit properly in the mount?I have heard you have to heat it.Or will it stay in place in the mount without making it level?

Don't ever heat the springs, this weakens the spring and it is liable to crack at random.

I have the Intrax/Tokico combo with one cut coil. Believe me, I'd go no lower, and many will say that's too low as well.

That said, it looks totally badass.

i didnt do anything with the cut end. i compressed the spring, attached strut and strut mount, and decompressed the spring. the only thing i did do was match the end of the spring to the indentation in the mount.
