I built this exhaust system a couple years back when I did my mtx conversion. This summer I got a chance to rebuilt it and improve it. I addressed some key issues such as adding a flex-pipe, checking/grinding/redoing the welds, redoing all the hangers, building a couple hanger mounts for the car, adding a ball ******, high temp paint, and a couple other little things. It sounds great and it sure feels more powerful than a stock car.

Just a little background info:
This y-pipe is an equal volume pipe which means that the front back is the same volume as the rear bank. the front pipe is 2in.X47in. and the rear is 2.5X30in. It all dumps into a 2.5in. catback.

Were your voulumes may be equal this doesnt make for a matched system ( between front and rear banks)

They will be tuned for scavenging at two different RPMs, the short / large diameter pipe will flow at higher RPMS were the other will scavenge best at lower RPMS.

What you may end up is a broader torque curve, not quiet tuned for peak numbers at higher RPM or grunt numbers down low it may work very well on a street driver car. I would love to see your design on a dyno to see how well it works, you may get some very suprising numbers out of it. Kind of like the short tube/ long tube headers that are sold for the SHO .

Heh funny that is exactly what I was shooting for, this is my daily driver car and I need a broad rpm range.

I wanted a little power increase but I did not want to shift the whole power curve to higher RPMs. I agree that the system is by far not tuned, if I were to do it again I would love to time the front and rear banks so when they merge one wave follows the other. But I'm unsure of how to do about it.

Anyways it does the job great and I'm happy. :sun:

I don't know about the balance, but that is a sweet looking set-up! Congrats!!

Yeah just a little modified to suit my needs. It goes in the area of the oil drain plug.

I was there on Tuesday the day of the car SHOw from 9am to about 5 pm. The car was not in the show, it was parked head first next to another silver 93. If you remember where bigjim's caddy was parked it was a couple cars over from there. It was the only sho to park with the rear sticking out.
