while I am staring my useless waterpump in the face, I decided to see how my sho tests (I think projectsho suggested this). By rotating the crank, and watching the cam sprockets to see if there is any lag.
Well, I have it in 5th gear, and I spun the wheel clockwise. There is a bit of play, but I am hoping that is normal... as if there is a tad of slack before it gears. But as soon as the crank pulley moves, the cam sprockets move.
Am I OK?

Yes, as long as there is NO lag between the crank and the cam when the crank is rotated.

A socket on the crank bolt is probably a more accurate indicator instead of using the wheel. There's some slack that has to be taken up in the tranny, etc.
