could the DIS cause my SHO not to start? it will crank but won't fire. also, if the CPS was bad would it still be able to get 500-700 rpms?
i have changed the BAP which was the only code that was pulled. any ideas shrug

pull a spark plug boot and then crank it over. if it sparks, then you have spark. if it doesn't spark, then check it could be your cps, DIS, ground strap, or cross over tube grounds. Check to see if you have spark first.

Not very likely the DIS. Contrary to popular belief, the DIS rarly is any problem. I'm sure those who were told & sold a DIS module will differ in opinion. As a general rule, the first thing to check is TSB's, codes are often a condition caused by someother problem that a code reader or scanner is incapable of reading correctly because the ECU is incapable of processing the actual fault. More feedback is needed. Did somthing lead up to this problem?

i have had this "problem" twice before this. first time i tried and tried but it wouldn't start (same symtoms), went to work, told my husband, and it started right up on the first try. the second time (same symtoms again) we tried over and over and finally started after several attempts. this time my husband drove it to work, it started on first start but when he got off from work 12hrs later, it did it again, except this time it didn't start. the car has been sitting here since mar 8

SHOLADY,

A few thoughts and suggestions.

Lets go back to basics.

Is it getting fuel? (fuel pressure test)

Is it getting spark? (check spark)

Clean all grounds, including the 4 screws holding the module to the crossover tube. Start with the large battery ground cable to the engine, the ground from the firewall to the intake (passanger side), the ground next to the battery, etc.

Check all harness connections for good clean contact, including the 60 pin connector through the firewall.

This will give you something to do while it "sits there"! thumbs_u rangerj

Crank the engine, if the tachometer needle moves, the ignition is getting a signal, if not, the CPS is possibly faulty. turn the key and listen for the pump to buzz for about 1 or 2 seconds. There is a schrader valve( same as a tire valve)right smack on top of the engine, on the fuel rail right on top near the center/driver side of the intake. if you push the center of the valve, pressurized fuel will spray out if the fuel pump is working, enough to easily hit the underside of the hood with the key on, if not, the pump is not pumping. If a huge fire starts I will not be responsible.

Sounds like a fuel or spark issue. Just as something to try, floor the gas pedal and then try to start the car with the pedal still to the floor. Pull a spark plug boot and hold half an inch to the block and have someone start the car. Do you see a spark? If you do, you have spark and it's most likely a fuel issue. Good luck and let us know what you find!

SHOlady,

See the post a few days back regarding the testing of the CPS. It walks you through the tests from the CPS (PIP), to the COIL PWR, including the CID to sensor, Spout to DIS, and IDM to control unit, ending with the Coil PWR.

I included the tests to perform, the wire colors, and the resutls to expect. Try it, you'll like it! rangerj

Just to chime in i had the same problem about 3 months ago it wouldn't start and then randomly it did. I got really mad and finally it did it one more time and i checked Fuel pressure, that was it there was none so next time it happens see if there is pressure (it is most likely the fuel pump.)

I think I finally found out the problem > CCRM. When I took the connector off, it made the same symptoms that it had before. It has been running since the last post but I still plan to change it. Kind of frustrating since there were no codes to go by. shrug Just wanted to update in case someone else had this problm. thumb
