Coolant to Throttle

[F-22 Raptor SHO]

Anyone bybass the coolant to the throttle intake area? My Impala SS guys do this all the time and say that it is alot coolers than if they leave the coolant running to it.

Suggestions?

I know a lot of people with Gen3 SHO's have done it; they talk about it all the time on their email list.

I haven't heard anybody indicate mass increases in horsepower, though!

That coolant loop is there to prevent icing in the throttle body due to the venturi effect.

If you remove it, just be aware of the possible consequences.

Correct about the icing problem. I have by passed the coolant loop to the throttle body and IAC/IAB in my car, but since I don't drive the car in cold damp weather, I am not concerned with the potenial problem. If you do, you can reconnect the loop for winter driving.

Okay - dumb question time. Couldn't you put a valve on the coolant supply side of the line or is that ineffective??

I just removed the lines from the TB and connected them together with a $3 barbed hose joiner. In the winter, I hook the lines back up(takes all of 10 min). A valve would make it even easier although I don't know if you want to stop the coolant flow altogether.

I just looped mine from the outlet by the thermostat directly to whereever the loop goes to after it exits the throttle body. Same here, I didn't want to alter the flow of the coolant, I just want to by pass the IAC and throttle body from it's route.
