Is it possible to use the ATX's cruise control on an MTX? Having the tap up and down to change mph is preferable to the MTX cruise control that kinda works.

I feel like jelloslug would be the man for the job...or have information about it.

Thanks!

The biggest "issue" is that you would have to remove the roll damper on the transaxle side since the servo mounts to the strut tower in the same location. Other than that it's just a matter of wiring up the servo and the under dash module.

I thought I had seen you post something about converting to it. I was planning on losing the roll dampener with reinforced motor mounts. It would be nice to get rid of that big vacuum cruise module thing, due to where I have it mounted with the gen 3 subframe.

I honestly don't know what parts the ATX cruise system is composed of, or what wiring needs to be done - if you wouldn't mind going into some detail when you have time, I'd appreciate it.

There is the servo with it's mounting bracket and the steering wheel switches. The steering sheel switches are the same on both cars so it's mostly just a matter of wiring up the new servo.

I would be interested to hear this as well my cruse well it works but its annoying. On and off the fuel all the time unless I set it at 70-75 mph. And usually climbs a few mph in a few mins after setting it.

Wait, the MTX cruise doesn't have 1-click +1 MPH? How lame. I wonder if this is new 1993 tech that they didn't bother retrofitting backwards on MTX cars. The cruise control module has a brake pressure cutout and brake pedal cutout, but ATX doesn't know about a clutch. Vehicle speed sensor info has to get to it also.

It doesn't work that way. Plus that damn vacuum cruise module is in my way. It only has two wires going to it, the ATX cruise has a few more. I don't have any wiring diagrams so I don't know where to start with it.

Not that I'm aware of, as far as a new style switch goes. Their fix was just a fused jumper harness, which isn't actually a solution.

But - do MTX cars have this switch? That may cause an issue in converting if it requires a new master cylinder.

I would assume they do not have it because they do not have the fire issue.

They don't because the switch for the mechanical/vacuum cruise on the MTX is by the brake pedal.

The MTX uses the old setup from years ago. And yes, after having cars with the "one-touch" setup, it IS annoying!

The replacement switch on the ATX cars under the master cylinder is built differently then the original design. It no longer has the clam shell crimp on top, which is where the problem was if brake fluid were to leak out of the master cylinder. The fuseable link is a precaution for those that still have the old switch, and is still used on the new switch. I had a 93 ATX that had a bad switch as well as needed the harness. Replaced the switch, put in the harness and things worked great. Now I have a 95 MTX with no cruise workability at all. Checked the vacuum line under the dash to the brake pedal. All seems to be fine.

Edit: harness as in the fuseable link setup
