People table-sleeping and MODS spanking each other at the convention - this ought to be interesting, to say the least . . . . :oogle:

Glad i just got a new cell-phone with a mega-pixel camera and video capability . . . .

. . . damn, I might just have to stay sober so I don't miss anything . . . !

OK y'all, I rolled by the Holiday Inn today on my way to grab one of my last batches of stuff from the move. Like I said, I'm not chiming in one way or another AFA a reccommendation, just so everyone can see what's up, here ya go. The last picis a shot from the Holiday Inn's parking lot, and the hotel you see through the trees in the background is the Hawthorn...

The one big thing that would concern me is that I know how most of the attendees are about their cars, and I just don't think that the atmosphere there right now is spot-on for a car show (if I was to bring a pristine ride up for the convention, anyway...)

Other issue is that 1/2 of the parking for the place is gone- it's tied up by materials, and equipment. Lots of cars, especially with midnight bowlers coming out trying to stumble into their cars from Holiday = not friendly for great paint. I think a lot of people would have felt safer parking cars in teh single rows around the edge instead of the multi-rows in front of the hotel, but the singles are all storage for the contractors.

For what it's worth, those are my .02, and anyway here are some pics cause I don't want to be a second-hand source...

Note the thinning tree-tops in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th photos. The trees appear to be dying because of soil-compaction and root-zone suffocation (note the dirt piles around the base of some trees). This means dead limbs, dead limbs equals car hazard.

Don,
Seeing as how I set this fire, if you need some help - let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I do have contact information for the Hawthorn, when I was researching reservations.

I do know that they will offer a group-rate of $90 per night for as little as 10-rooms. They currently have 52 rooms available one night, and 53 the two remaining nights for the main convention period (16th-19th), and 40-some rooms for Thursday (20th), for anyone that is departing late. I did not asked about the 15th (Sunday evening).

I only see pictures of part of the lot no? There must be more.
I'm sure the trailer, dumpsters and storage trailer are staying where they are, but the studs should be used up by then, and I'm guessing the curbing etc will be done.
I'm going no matter what and whatever happens, happens.
The kid will swim anywhere, a couple coolers for food is cheaper than eating out, and the lounge will be outdoors with cheap beer and folding chairs.

HYJACK ALERT...ATTN. to ALL.
Bring your RC cars for lot racing.

Hate to tell ya, but most of that stuff has been there for 2 months+ now. They are not on a fast track whatsoever. But hey- they could get it done, who knows. And that is 85% of the lot. The big lot in front by the bowling allay, the side lot in picture 6, and a lot with about 25 spots to my right in pic #4, surrounded by material dumpsters.

There is still time, maybe they'll get the lead out and "Git-R-Done"
