Trying to get rid of my '13 BMW, sick of giving it a thousand bucks whenever it wants. The sensible choice is to go Toyota/Honda/Lexus/Acura but I saw a really nice '14 SHO with only 44.6k on the clock. Two owners, looks like the second one took decent care of it. First owner was corporate so I imagine they took care of it but didn't report to Carfax. Would definitely get a pre-purchase inspection nonetheless.
I know some people say to get '15/'16 to get Sync 3 with Android Auto but AA doesn't even work on Fords with my phone for some reason, it just crashes.
Anyone got any thoughts on if I should pursue this further? The dealer just took it in, looks like they want 21k for it which isn't bad. I know water pump/PTU is a potential pain point (probably a when not if...) but anything else I should worry about?

Low mileage car for the money easy to drive as resale if it doesn't fit your bill.

Miles are low. I would change the coolant, ptu fluid and put good oil in it. Castrol edge titanium is cheap at walmarts and one of the best oils. My 15’ has 118k on everything but the engine and ptu and i didnt have any stupid electrical issues yet. My Touch can be a pain sometimes but its fine. Just slow compared to how quickly we use our phones.

That's like 8k over bluebook. Still a bunch of money for a 2014. Offer 12 if you like it and make them work for the money. And definitely get a PPI from a shop that's familiar with the platform. Good luck.

Yeah KBB is saying private party max is 18k. I doubt they would go down. "We price it competitively according to market" blah blah my ass.

So I own a '14, my suggestion is get a '15 or newer. The last Ford fixes and better engineered engine. Fuel inject and direct injection - less carbon build up. Two timing chains not one and more to address single chain issues. No outdated Ford MySync...

If it was me wait for a 2015.

Yeah that's what I've heard. There isn't a single '15 that doesn't have at least triple the miles that this one does.
Has your 14 treated you well at least?

No. They do have a newer version of Sync, though.

Carvana. Tons of 18’ 19’ shos with barely any miles for good value.

Find a higher mileage one for 12k, then you got 9 grand in the bank for repairs. That kind of mileage means it probably has enjoyed a lifetime of startups and short drives, why people want to pay extra for a car like that is beyond me. It makes zero financial sense. The same stuff has the same chances of braking. Most parts seem to last a certain number of years not miles.

Honestly I'd have to finance this. My trade is only worth like 13k but I imagine dealers will try to get less for it. If I'm making payments again I want something that will last and I expected low mileage to be better tbh. I was totally ignorant buying this BMW but I know better now.

yeah. Beemers are great brand new but after some wear and tear...money pits. As these can be. Any performance vehicle with awd tt is going to vigilant ownership, high frequency maintenance etc. You already know this... Toyota for reliability over time

Yeah my first car (infiniti) was a ******* tank so I thought...hey BMW with 75k miles, gotta be good right?..**** no. Lost at least 15k on this car and I hate myself for it man. Saw a nice low-mileage GS for a bit more than the SHO here but apparently it was sold before the dealer even put it up on their site. Why they even post the listing I have no ******** clue.

So in my honest opinion, my 2014 PP SHO.is fun to drive. I will say Ford quality is not great. In under 10k miles and still under warranty had the transmission replaced by Ford. The car NEEDS to be tuned to run nice. For instance mine always had a roughish idle spoke to Ford under warranty they didn't see any issues. After being tuned rock solid idle. Poor transmission hunting issues at times, after tuning runs MUCH better.

My '14 is rich in features and nice to be in. Look I respect your decision to break away from the money pit - this car has its own issues. I will eat BMWs for breakfast so I would say buy one. It's a well supported club.

2015 is still Ford My Touch. 2016 MY was the first to have Sync 3 for Taurus
Thanks - thought they switched that year. I updated mine from Amazon about $700, well worth it.

I guess I don't mind a car having issues but I'm sick of dropping a thousand bucks every time any little thing pops up yk?

If it looks good on paper then go for it. Side story I had an Oldsmobile Alero back when new from dealer - lemon lawed the vehicle, under 12K miles. Of course instead of having the vehicle destroyed went to the same dealers used lot with a LOW MILES sign... I will never buy a dealer used car.
