cold running problem

I just finished a clutch job on my sho and now the temp gauge stays between the L and the bottom line. Before we did the clutch it was around the M. What could we have done to have such a dramatic change. BTW i've checked all the wiring and even ran a wiggle test.

Did you remove the thermostat housing?

Maybe forgot to put a thermostat back in?

Could be that your Tempature sending unit is beginning to fail and if it starts reading colder over time look into buying another one. They're not much, not even $10. I got mine from Josh at Shonut for like $7-$8, but that's free shipping since I got the clutch deal and over the $200 mark. Real easy fix.

Edit: Just wanted to mention since I noticed the milage on your car that it's probaly the reason. TSU's give false claims when beginning to go bad. Sooner or later your guage is going to be showing dead cold all the time due to the unit. Better to fix now then later since it's a risk of the car overheating and not knowing. $10 beats a non running car. boink Better safe then sorry. boink

Would the TSU unit show up when I run the KOER or KOEO tests?

No it won't show up on those tests. Just replace the thermostat and temp sending unit. The sending unit is about 5 bucks. Cheap insurance while you're in there.
