Cold Air Intake

OK, this is the deal.

I have many "CAN" options. Nice steel cans, plastic, etc. I want to allow people to fully customize their own intake. What does that mean...? Different color cans, different materials, cheaper cans, etc.

This allows people who want the really nice stuff the option, and people who are cost mind to create the kit cheaper. It really doesn't matter what "CAN Style" you go with. I personally like custom stuff, and I feel many people on this forum do also.

As of right now the kits can be built in the $200.00-250.00. I can offer that right now.

If people want a price break then we need a group buy to lower build cost.
I think I can put the kit into the $120.00-160.00 range.

Many will probably want test results, there coming once the next prototype is built.

So what does everybody think...?

Also, you v8 guys can jump in this too. Cans will just be cut differently, but everything should work. I will look at creating a kit and use probably kikkinasphalt as a gini pig...?

Before you start selling this to V8 owners, did you actually test-fit it on a V8? There isn't nearly as much room over there on the V8 as there is on the V6; the battery gets in the way.

I know the space issues. We have some v8 in our SHO group. I will build a system that works, plus my sealing dedsign allows much more flexibility for movement, and box volume. I will have to design a v6 version and a v8. I just wanted to let the v8 guy's know I want to do a kit for them too.

in reality, theres more space there than you think.. i have a HUGE WAI there now..

once you start cleaning up that area you would be suprised how much space there is.

I've owned three gen 3's and two of them were SHOs. I'm pretty sure I know exactly how much room there is. It's not an issue for me personally anyways, as my battery is in the trunk.

Also, while I'm at it, it appears that there is no give anywhere at any of the connections. Going back to fastening it to the inner fender, if that happens, it will probably get torn off anyway. It appears that there is a hard connection at the TB and at the MAF. Is there a way to get a silicone coupler at these connections to give a little flex? Otherwise it looks like it will be a rigid connection from the motor to the inner fender.

Sorry, didn't notice this post untill now. The inlet of the can is flexible, the filter can move within the can, so the twisting motions of the engine are not fixed to the can, and therefore will not transfer to the fender.

Ok, i see that the filter is attached directly to the MAF so the filter will move with the engine, but if the can will allow movement, how is it attached? from the pics it is hard to tell

That thing is a work of art, even if there is no HP increase I would be very interested in a group buy. Put me down for one!

The cone filter lays in a latex surround to allow movement. Your right about the can not being attached in the picture. It is simply laying in the engine bay for a picture. The final product will have a mount to a stock bolting location.

It’s been a long time. Easiest thing to do is get a 80mm MAF adaptor plate and bolt to the bottom of your favorite trash can and add the cone filter.
