Gauging Interest in CAI group buy. Pricing should be in the $100.00-$200.00 range depending on number interested. The filter is heat sheild and cool air is drawn through the fender hole by means of a velocity stack. The stainless steel construction is very elegant, rust resistant, and can be powdercoated. Some of you may ask why not plastic? Stainless steel is more durable given its metal nature and therefore can be made thinner than plastic optimizing volume in the cone area. Thermal coatings can be applied for the serious minded people.

The kit:
Cotton or Stainless Steel 6 inch filter. Stainless Steel Canister. 45 Degree Hose w/Polish heavy duty bolt clamp. Fender Velocity Stack.

Kit should work with any current MAF setup.

A prototype system is on a fellow SHO members car right now. "St. Louis SHO" Please feel free to ask opinions on the system.

The system offers the convinence of easy maintance. Lower dirt exposure compared to fender style systems. Engineered to provide the highest flow than any other system. The MAF and Cone filter are allowed to move within the canister as the engine torques due to its non-rigid construction.

Intake removal should consist of simply undoing the throttle body clamp, pulling the plug off the MAF/Cold Air Sensor, and a quick pin on the side mount. <----Last part yet to be determined...?

I will build the second prototype of the unit next weekend. Any input on design would be much appreciated...

Right then...Whos interested...?

I am so freaking sick of this shit. When you buy one off eBay, do you get a dyno, what about SHOSource (not to bash my good friends there) Dyno time costs money, and would factor into the cost of the final product.

[/rant]

I can tell you first hand it feels much more responsive than the old SHOShop fenderwell K&N. I drove my 3.2 car with the SHOShop and the new one, and I like the new one. Honestly I can feel the difference.

Looks good. i would like to see dyno graphs before and after though.

im currently running the same setup like your doing minus the canister around the filter, even with my filter exposed sitting in front of the fender opening i noticed a nice diff in throttle response over a K&N panel filter with the fender gutted, would you sell just the canister setup you came up with minus the filter and elbow??

Do you complain about everything that people say they want or just that? I can't believe that set you off like that. But anyway, I don't see what the problem is. it would help to push the product. Dyno time does cost you but you have to spend it to make it.

Honestly, if your in the SHO business to make money, then you probably need to look into something else... No Offense, your right for wanting information and I will try to generate that for you. I just thinking quality parts in the SHO game are starting to really suffer. Probably due to the cars age, etc...

So, your interested in seeing a gain...?

I will see what I can do.

I completely understand, we are a very exclusive group, SHO enthousiasts. I really do like to support the SHO aftermarket so that it continues for many years. I know that there isn't much money in the SHO buisiness but I do think you could make more by having more than speculation about your product. However it looks VERY well made. Quality appears to be outstanding. I think I would have to cover up that pretty SS wih some sort of thermal wrap or something though. Maybe get an extra pony.

So people should by performance parts without questioning how much performance they should offer? It's called research and development and any respectable business should expect to support their products as such and answer basic questions like this with a smile.

There is NOTHING wrong with asking for dyno numbers, especially on something like a cold air intake which has traditionally yielded virtually no appreciable gain in performance on the SHO.

That said, that is without question one of the nicest CAIs I've ever seen for this car :thumb: WAY better than the fender-mounted crapjob SHOshop used to put out. I'd be very interested as well in seeing some performance figures on this setup :)

Technically I am not a business, not yet anyway. I just find improvements for the SHO lacking, so in order to fill this void developed products that other owners can enjoy and hope for funding for my crazier ideas.

I do understand your point. True world numbers would help push a product like this easier. You have to kinda see James point too. I have had my far share of blast from individuals on this forum because of not having numbers. Do I intend to produce numbers, sure. I just can't jump when some of these members want me too. All I can say is "in time, I will have numbers."

I do stress the highest quality for parts. Custom fabircation on boats is my daily job, and are detail is amongst the highest in the world. I feel the SHO should be no different.

I do really appreciate the comments. This gives direction for this product. I want to know what SHO owners want.

With as good as that looks, even if there's the slightest gain I see that selling. **** I paid $120 for SHO Shop's POS fender kit several years ago. I would've loved to have had something as nice as yours!

Very nice setup, id be interested in the future.

As for gains, its been beaten up and down. Lets be honest with ourselves, is there gonna be an honest to god performance gain that will relate to faster acceleration/times/ traps in the real world? I can almost guarantee you that there won't be. Will it sound awesome, and look great under the hood? That i can guarantee. Id guess at best you'd gain some throttle response, but other then that, there is no miracle intake thats going to turn 220hp into 235-245hp, the factory intake is a pretty good unit, but as mentioned I would definitely ditch it for a unit like this.

Nice to see so many people working out of their homes to make these cars better.

If the stock intake system with ribed intake hose, paper filter, and odd shape fender hole out flowed a stainless steel filter system with can velocity stack through fender and 45 degree hose, I would be very disapointed! I think I would quit while I was ahead.

I should flow. I have tried to take into account everything possible to get that air through with the fastest and most flow possible. Hopefully it works...

Thanks for the comments I appreciate it! :thumb:
