If they're actual Cobra wheels, they'll fit, but you might want to be careful on the tire size. I had Cobras on my 92 with 245 45 17 and they fit without rolling the fender, but not all tires that size will.

Now that I tink about it...you want the SVT T-Bird rims. Not Cobra rims. There's a distinction in that Cobra rims have a mustang bolt pattern.

Be sure about what you're looking at. They might by Mustang rims.

17x9s are made by aftermarket places for the T-Bird. They fit OK on them, but fitment on an SHO gets tricky. Chris Gates had some on his green car. Looked decent, but I don't know what he had to do to get them to fit properly.

The website for the svt t-bird wheels is still up. I lost the link, it's saved on my external hard drive. I can check it tomorrow. I have a feeling they are 7inchs wide

Thanks for all the reply's.These are replicas of the cobra rim that is being reissued for the club.

IN STOCK: Cobra R 17 x 9" Chrome Wheels - 5 x 4.25"
The 17" Cobra Rs have been obsolete for several years now but Super Coupe Performance has made a special purchase of these in the awesome chrome finish.

This is a classic looking Cobra R look-alike aftermarket chrome 17x9" wheel with proper backspacing and 5 x 4.25" bolt pattern to fit the '89-97 Tbirds/Cougars and the '93-98 Mark VIII. No modifications required to run this wheel. The 17" wheels are often preferred as they allow for a more comfortable ride as your tire will have a higher side wall.

Have reinstalled rear ground effect endcap, material removed to accomodate bigass tire... 245/45-17 on 17x9 CobraR's (made in China!). Rolled rear fender as well as 5mm spacer in the back. Also depends somewhat on which tire you use... some are square some more round... round ones fit better.

Mostly you'll need to space the wheel out so as to not rub on the strut tower, and roll the fender cause you spaced the wheel out.

FWIW they look like this (@NHMS Convention 18?): http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b331/Platoribs/Green at the Track/

You'll also probably want to upgrade the rear brake to the 92 big mouth caliper w/11.6 rotor reloc bracket, otherwise your rear brakes will look tiny...

They look awesome for sure, but.... I think it would look a little more awesome if you drop the ride height a little with some coilover action. Is there room in the fenders to do this, or are they too wide for that? Because i have been looking for the right wheel to add to my SHO wishlist. If they fit in the fenders i think this will be the wheel to save up for(i would look to get the 18's tho). It is hard to find a nice 18x8 wheel.

On a related note. I've a set of wheels that look like the SVT Cobra R ones, but the size is 16 x 6.5 with a 36mm offset. Yes, they fit a Taurus and have a FORD trademark on the rear. Part # is F8CV-AA and they weigh in at 18lbs.
Anybody know exactly what they are? From a 98 T-bird perhaps?
They have lots of room for a big caliper. The inner diameter is a bit bigger than a slicer, thus enabling 12.5" rotors. These combined with stock sized 215-60/16 would make a great setup for touring.

Back to the 17x9s, any idea on the weight of those wheels?

update, weight is 25 lbs
