Hi,
I just replaced the climate control/radio on my 97 sho and it still doing the same thing. The front defrost is on high but the unit is blank, or not working. But when I turn the key ignition key towards me the radio starts working. When I turn the key forward nothing works. I did check all the fuses and and nothing. What can be the problem?
Thanks

it seems to be something to do with the acc. wire coming from the ignition.
But if the climate control works but doesn't show any thing on the screen, then I myself would've thought the same thing.
Damn electrical systems. lol

No, it works, but the actual display does not turn on. (I think from reading his post.. correct me if I'm wrong.)

Since the display turns on when you turn the key back, it's obviously not the connectors to the football. It would be the electrical on the key/ignition itself.

From troubleshooting, that would be the most logical answer.

I would pull the connectors off the ICP and see if I was getting juice at all the right places.

Also, this is just a "it might work" sort of thing.

From my experience, sometimes just disconnecting the plugs, blowing them out, or simply just disconnecting and reconnecting will work, sometimes.

On my last SHO, I disconnected the wires for my doors and radio and they started working, before they would not function or turn on (the radio).

So, it's worth a shot if you haven't tried already.

found the problem!!!!!! I checked all the connections on the back of the football first, then checked the RCU in the rear. Then checked all the fuses - found the problem was the "radio memory" fuse. Replaced that (5 amp) fuse and it all started working again - even still had all the preset memory stations saved!! Really just bugs me how it went bad while sitting up. to clarify the condition, NOTHING on radio or climate control was working! no displays, no radio control operation, no climate control operation. The blower was blowing VERY hot heat out of the defroster though - already 100 degrees here with out that!!!!! thanks for the help guys!

Glad you found the fix S-H-O-Man !!

But, now to the demirisho's problem: His climate control works, but won't display and when he turns key back, the display starts working.

So, unfortunately, I don't think it's a fuse.

thanks, Rob
