I have read through many posts based on the 13" PBR (Cobra) brake upgrade for the SHO's. I have been sitting on the calipers for about 2 years now, I haven't done the swap beacause I trully cannot find wheels that I like. I really like my factory alloy 16" wheels. I've even tried to look for aftermarket wheels that look the same, but really no luck. I know people clearance wheels by shaving off some metal. And the idea that some aftermarket 16" wheels fit over the 13" rotors with PBR calipers makes me believe there is a chance of doing some clearencing to the factory wheels to make them work. Anybody try this yet? Or am I just out of luck?

I cannot say for sure how much material would need to be removed to accommodate 13" brakes, however I would be weary of the structural integrity of the wheel following such a move.

If it were me, I'd sell what you had and pick a smaller brake package, or get a larger wheel.

I completely agree and I was not going to lump of sections. I was just curious if the clearance problem was by a few millimeters (something a dremel could take care off). But I wouldn't do it if I had to shave off alot, plus I'd want the wheel to be balanceable by a couple ounces not pounds. lol Thanks

I don't think there's anything you can do to the stock sho wheel to make it clear 13" brakes. If I wanted to keep the stock wheel, I'd modify the existing bracket to mount the cobra calipers onto over the 11.6 rotor. Much better braking then stock.

They've been discontinued for years. Alot of websites list them in their inventory, but none have them in stock.

I clicked on the 'buy me' from that page and it sent me a link to an updated page. I didn't see any T-bird Cobra wheels offered on the new site.

Thats cool. Does anybody know where the factory wheel hits the caliper, Does the caliper sit too tall for the wheel to fit over it? Or is it too far out and the spokes hit it?
