So I finally replace my Autozone Gold pads with a set of Carbotech AX6 pads fron Josh at shonutperformance. There is a huge differance with the new pads. Initial bite is 100 times better and I can now satnd the car on its nose with ease. There is a small amount of brake noise during normal driving, but it is very minimal. I will have to relearn how to use the brake pedal.....in a good way. Thank you Josh.

Yep. I went through 3-4 sets of those (formerly called Panther Plus before the rename) on the LGT, and was very happy with them. I used them for all the track days on the LGT, and they performed very well. Fine for street use, even in winter, as I don't care that much about some dust & noise. just get black wheels!!

On previous SHOs I went through Porterfield R4S (a few sets), as well as HPS pads. Those are not recommended for track days in heavy cars.....for a reason. The AX6 are about the same $$$, and perform far better (LGT weighs the ssame as a SHO).

I had black wheels on the LGT for the summer, but check out the wheels on the white '89 in my sig. They are PERFECT for dusty brakes! The polished spokes don't get any dust, it all evenly coats the inside of the wheels.

Those pads are great, I run them all the time as well. I have used them on the track with good results as well. But I have also bought a set of the xp10s for the track and they are great as well.

I was debating between the AX6's and the XP10's. I decided on the AX6's since I will probably be doing more street driving and autox than I will be open tracking. If I get more involved with the road courses (which is the plan) then I will get a set of XP10's as well. It is my understanding that the pad compounds on the AX6'6 and XP10's are comptible, so you dont have to switch rotors to change pads.

I was considering starting another Product Feedback on the XP-series pads, but......

Any Carbotech pads are compatible with rotors. OTOH, I always do a freshen-up cut before I do new pads and re-bed anyway.

I have stock brakes on the white '89, now running XP10/XP8 pads.

In a word.....GREAT!! Not the topic here, but the stock brakes are fine with good pads.

I ran the XP10/XP8 combo at VIR. Now, VIR is not that rough on brakes, but they worked great. No fade whatsoever after a session. The AX6 on the LGT didn't fade, but it took more pedal near the end of a session. No loss of stopping power, however.

The interesting thing is that the XP pads are quieter than the AX6 pads, and dust is about the same. Yeah, they cost more (about $350 online for the full set), but I will stay with these on the '89.
