I had this problem a couple months ago and its back. My car runs great but when i am sitting in park it will start to rev up slowly..and wont stop. It happens the most after i have been driving not so much when i first start it up.

I cleaned my MAF out and it stopped...that was back in August. I know that i should obviously try that before i post something about it..but i didnt think that the MAF could get bad in a few months after cleaning it. Is there any other reasons why it might be doing this?

Disconnect your speed control cable, and see if there's a change.

Racer X.. are you talking about the IAC on top of the TB? or the actual throttle cable (I don't think dc'ing the throttle cable would have any affects on anything).

No, not the VSS. The cable from the speed control servo.

Although, on second thought, I just realized that the speed control servo is no longer vacuum actuated... so... uh... yeah, it's probably not that.

Nevermind.

I Have the Same Problem n my 99!

Mine wii rev up over 2,000 rpm in neutral. I found that disconnecting the battery will "fix" the problem for a while, but it will come back. Have replaced the idle air control (IAC) and throttle position sensor (TPS), which also seemed to "fix" the problem, but it always comes back!

Sure would like to know of a permanent fix!

make sure the tb is clean you guys must have some kind of vac leak look at everything very close. i had cracks in the intake couplers and couldnt tell unless i completely took them off and removed the clamps. that was a pita day to figure that out....

If it were a vac leak you wouldn't likely be able to shut it off to fix it. This happens to me every now and then, but if I put it in park, I just shut it off and turn it back on.

I'll have to look into getting new TP connector. Anyone had this done like the article from v8sho.com?
Would a smear of dielectric grease help at all?

I just fixed mine doing the same thing. All I had to do was clean the throttle body with some cleaner. Basically the throttle plates weren't closing completely throwing the tps way out of range. I watched driving home with the scanner hooked up and the tps voltage stayed as high as 1.30 volts at idle, after I cleaned it the tps drops to .84 volts every time now. Mine was really erratic with my tune it would idle up to 2200 sometimes.
