Yup I can, it's a simple fix. Go to an auto parts dealer (I went to NAPA) and get the stero memoving tool, it's 2 little U shaped things. Then go home and get a phillips srewdriver, I think it's a phillips, and then get in your car and follow the instuctions on the back of the package. once the stero is out take out the screws holding the bracket for it off and then remove the phone and tape or just let the telephone wire hang and put the stero back in. I just cut my wire at the carpet because I just wanted to take it out, I thought it looked ********. Took me all of about 10min to do.

Or you could just press the power button on the handset to turn it off. That's what I did. No tone, factory phone still in the car. thumb

Hmmm...I don't know why that would be the case. Have you tried turning it of with ignition on? I've always turned it on or off with the engine running. The only reason I ever have it on, is if my wife and I are travelling far, we can dial 911 quicker if need be. Otherwise, it remains off. I HATE cell-phones. squint Mine NEVER comes on by itself...

Hate cell-phones?

I love mine, don't know what I'd do with out it. It takes pictures, has a speaker phone in it, color screen, and some cool games. You can't hate something that does all that and lets you be on the enternet all at the same time.

No offense intended, but I most certainly can hate them. I can't imagine being so tied to a device, that the rest of my life is unbearable without a friggin' phone by my side 24-7. The whole "phoneculture" is intrusive and wasteful. Just my 2 cents worth.

I wish I could help you with that, but I have no idea. I am sure some of the folks here will be able to put you in the right direction, though. Whatever you do, try to leave the phone as part of the car. It is a rare option. thumb Oh, and get the cams welded if it hasn't already been done. thumb

The OEM cell phone has an inline fuse above the left rear wheel well.

I know I am going to sound completely ignorant, but what phone? I own a 1999 Gen III SHO and have never seen, or heard for that matter, any kind of phone. Is this just a feature that they offered on an earlier year model? If not where is this phone located? Someone please let me know. Thanks in adavnce.

Ian Macoomb:
The cell phone mounted in the center console was a rarely picked up option available all years I believe.
It seems like it was an extra option that you had to special order. Oh well, I guess if I want a car phone I have to buy one myself. Thanks for getting back t ome on that one.

If you want a car phone you're going to have to go back in time. Those things are old school. I don't think they even make cell phones half that size any more.
