Car Just Dies (intermittant)

1997 SHO 80k miles. Car just dies (intermittantly) after a hard acceleration. Also will somtimes startup missing and blowing black smoke. Both conditions can be overcome by turning the motor off and then back on. Then everything runs fine. MAF has been changed with no change in symptoms.

Get an OBDII reader on that car and pull the codes. That will be your best start to tracking the problem down.

I was about to say 'me too!' but I am having that problem on a 91 sho. I gather the fix to mine is the crank or cam position sensor. Dunno about the V8s.

What codes is your computer giving you? If you haven't checked the codes yet then go to the link in my signature and run the KOEO and KOER tests. Then get back to us.
