I am helping a friend work on his 94 ATX. It had an issue a couple weeks back where it would run for 10-15 min and just simply shut off. Replaced the crank position sensor and it ran great for the next 2 weeks without any problems. Today when he was coming to work it died again and will not start now. I ran the codes and got 111, 121, 212, 214, 216, 232. Can someone tell me where to look next? When it does this time he said it sort of sputtered, the tach went to 8000 and stayed there so I was thinking cam sensor. When I ran the test to get the codes the tach needle returned to 0 again.

I searched your codes and I would look at the cam sensor and the DIS next.

When my cam sensor went bad my car would run fine for about 30 minutes. I'd have to let it cool off and re-start it. I was 75 miles from home too. Really sucked, but anyway.............

I had both the cam and crank sensors replaced. Runs super smoothly now. No stalls and starts on a dime every time!

Replaced the cam sensor and the car will not start. I don't see any signs of a leaking water pump and the area was dry as far as I can recall when we did the crank sensor.

Have you checked to see whether or not you have spark? It would suck to do all this diagnostic work and then find out the problem is a clogged fuel filter or something like that. You should figure out whether it's a spark problem or a fuel delivery problem (or both).

Back in Michigan ... again.
I assume 111 is your on-demand (KOEO) test and the rest were in memory?

It shouldn't be a crank sensor issue, that would set a code 211. Besides, you just replaced it... even a leaking water pump won't **** a crank sensor in a week or two.

Does it even try to fire, or does it just crank and crank? I'd be looking at the cam sensor or possibly the coil pack.

The car has fuel but still no spark. Tried a good coil pack yesterday and same problem, fuel but no spark. Crank position sensor, Cam position sensor, DIS, coil pack are all good. Now I remember why I sold this damn thing! :)

it's definitely an ignition problem then. the only thing I can think of is that it lost a ground.
