Well after removing my intake to do plug wires i decided to clean it up. well i had another intake that was already disassembled, that i was going to clean and paint. well any way after 8 of 9 cans of b-12 and 2 cans of spray paint my new intake was clean and looking good (plenums were flat black and runners were ford red) went to put the damn thing back together and i just can't get it. nothing is working :mad: so after 3 days of work and a few dollars my ****** ass scratched to **** intake is bake on. needless to say that she is running like a scalded dog.

Ok the real question - Can someone list the step by step process to get this thing back together? I feel like such a *******. headbang

You didn't say exactly what part of the reassembly you had the problems with. After the intake has been disassembled by loosening the hose clamps on the rubber connectors, you must leave the hose calmps loose until you refit the intake on the alignment dowels on the heads. Only after the intake is seated on the heads can you then snug the hose clamps.

Was the problem with getting the intake on the car, or getting the runners snaked back together to hook onto the tanks?

I put mine back together like 10 times in two weeks. This is what I did. Step 1-connect the rubber connectors to the butterflies step 2-connect butterfliest to runners. step 3- connect runners and butterflies to the pleneum(either the front or back-which is first does not matter) step 4- connect the front pleneum to the rear pleneum via the rubber connector while conneting the last pleneum to the other side of the runners step 5- put the nus on the studs that are on the pleneum that connects the pleneums to the runners step 6-tighten both sides down. step 7- connect surge tanks via the rubber connectors step 8- bolt up the brackets that go connect the surge tank to the pleneum. thats about it besides hooking up the tb and various sensors and coolant lines. hope that helps.

ok what i was doing was trying to put the entire intake together on my bench then puting the one piece on the motor. but you are supposed to just snug everything together, then attach the runners to the heads, and then tighten everything down.

Thanks. I had the same question. I had the intake off for valve cover replacement. Decide to replace intake gaskets. My parts guy got me the whole intake set instead of just the two gaskets into the head. So in all my wisdom jpshakeh I decide to replace all the gaskets and really clean the EGR vale jets. OOps put the butterflies in backwards. SO that's why they won't open by moving the linkage from the valve. headbang
Won't happen again.

Gentlemen,

When you take something apart that you are not intimately familiar with;
1. take pictures if you have that capability,

2. Put lables on the parts and fasteners, eg front, back, left, right, upper, lower etc.

3. lable any and all vacuum hoses, electrical connection, cables, etc. Lable both ends of the connection. I use a piece of masking tape.

4. Make a list of the connections, and the fasteners, and check off your list when you put things back together.

5. I take the list of fasteners and look up the torque specifications before I go to put things back together. That way as I am putting things together I can check off the fastener and the fact that it has been properly torqued.

Whatever method of planning, organizing, and executing your work you use, you will find things go faster and smoother if you do use a "method". rangerj

I took before dismantling pics with my handy dandy digital camera after I realized...." What if I get drunk tonight and forget everything I was doing the day before?".....I zoomed in on the many hoses and connections......It helped alot since I dont have the perfect photographic memory and also 'cause the girlfreind was buggin me very 2 minutes. When you work on this car your not the most freindly type of bloke.
