I know with many cars, it's ok to replace the cats with a bypass tube...I have a '93 ATX, but will that lower the backpressure too much? Has anyone done this?

Of course, I know this would most likely increase the emissions resulting in a "No Pass" for emissions controls...but I am just curious.

You can replace the standard (or aftermarket) catted Y-pipe with a catless version. There are vendors who make them that will work well in the SHO.

You would be unlikely to pass any of the more rigorous emmissions test with it set up that way.
