There's a long story behind it...
I have adopted 4 stray cats in the neighborhood. 2 of them were sick and I took them in personally, got their shots and such. The other 2 I could not take in or find a decent home for yet so I've been feeding them.
It's become a daily routine: I wake up and the cats meet me at the door and walk me to my car. When I get home they meet me at my car and walk me to my door. I feed them and they're harmless kittens, they've never hurt or bothered anyone.
One day early this week I left for work and there was no grey kitty. Came home and same deal. I looked all over with my flashlight thinking it got into it with a raccoon that's been hanging around and I came across a cat trap with another cat in it. Being an animal lover I released the cat and destroyed the trap prior to throwing it in the dumpster.
Next day I go to the animal control office and they inform me that yes, the cat was brought in the day prior and was euthanized within 2 hours because it was brought in as a stray. This infuriated me and I left steaming. I came home to find another trap (which animal control rents to citizens) and I destroyed that one too.
My guess, since nothing was stolen from the car, my car was the only one broken into, and the doors are left unlocked, is that the person setting the traps was looking for some revenge because they ended up purchasing 2 traps instead of renting them.

File a police complaint. Things like this have a bad way of spiraling out of control if someone has already gone this far and you don't get the police involved (ie. slashed tires, battery acid on paint, smashed windshield, etc.). Then there will be a record of the problem and related vandalism, which will make it easier for the police to press charges. Damages in excess of $250 will likely make this a felony offense. Tell the police where the traps are coming from, and they will be able to press the animal control office for their records as to who they've been "renting" traps to. It's not likely they will have multiple recent records of two-in-a-week or short period of time, in your immediate area.
Then press for damages, as well as criminal prosecution. As much as I love cats, and as much as I think something should be done about feral cats, the actions of this individual indicate they're fanatical
and likely to take further action. Let the police take care of this.

I called the police that night and a report was taken. He even did me a favor and turned his lights on so others in the neighborhood would know of his presence.
We'll see where it goes from here. In the meantime I have taken in the third cat.

I found a window at the JY that I will install tomorrow. Those things are a pain in the ass to pull when you can't roll the window down.

Get a camera... you'll find out who did it if they strike again. Keep the car parked in the light or get a motion sensing light.

you're lucky ..i hadn't tinted my windows yet when mine was broken...so i still find glass pieces in the car
not to mention the window just never seems to seal tight now.. at least they didn't do any major damage

Man, that sucks. I know what it is like. Went to church, came out and BAM pasanger window on the Expedition busted out, glove compartment emptied onto floor, radio and radar left alone. I tried to post a pic but it didnt load, window looked really cool.
