Well, as of the 19th I have cam welded 97 SHO. It was the best drive home since I had heard of the problems with the cars. Performance Plus did the work on the car. All I can say is I wish I was Doug's kid. The guy is a robot when he works on a car. At one point I thought that he was going to overhaul the engine and put it back together in that day. He welded the cams. I had 2 valves out of adjustment, at 55,000 miles. Good thing to get it done before the 100,000. Changed the spark plugs, moved the coils packs front to back. Cleaned the runners, changed the oil and looked over everyhting on my car. Checked the air in the tires and looked over the ball joints and tirerod ends. I had a million point inspection in about 5 hours. They dropped me off at the hotel and picked me up. I was like a kid in a candy store at that shop. If I knew what half the stuff was I would have bought it. Nohting is cut short at Performance Plus. I would recommend them to anyone who is worried about other people touching their car. When I was there he had a wrecked 03' Cobra that he was wanting to sell the motor and tranny. Told me that if he can not get rid of it he was going to put it in a Focus. THat is the kind of crazy, cool stuff you see there. Three thumbs up Performance Plus thumb thumb thumb boink

You had 2 shims out of spec at 55k?!?!The Gen III`s rarely need any shim adjustment,it`s beleive the shims are made of a different material/coating.Out of 110+ cam welds(that cars,440+ actual cams),Kirk has seen i beleive only 3 shims out of spec. That is strange to hear.

Kirk told me you guys didn't check valve lash because it wasn't an issue and I didn't notice you check it at IL Camfest. Is this something you guys typically do now?

Where do you get the V8 shims?

Kirk periodically checks the valves,we did check several in IL,maybe just not the 1 car we worked on the day you were there. On second though,we didn`t even do a weld when you were there, just a cleaning.I`ve never even seen one close to being out of spec,i wonder what the cause of this is.
