Thanks flo those pictures look great. I had alot of trouble wit the wireing harness so i just had to push it out of the way. Other than that the welds went well and im pretty happy wit them.

Yeah Ive had my sho for like 4yrs and i bought it with like 89,*** miles so ive put it off for a long time. Every year i bring it out of storage my buddies harass me bout the welds well this year i saved up for it. along with radiator hoses and heater core hoses as well what fun job. My car currently has 105xxx on it bullet proof as ive read.

ha yeah i was nervous when i pulled the first valve cover but no movement of the cams. they were clean and still intact tho i can see the flaw when i went to clean them with brake cleaner it was pretty easy cause the fluid went right threw the gears. I think the hardest part of the whole tear down was cleaning the intake plenum. that carbon was like tar wouldnt come off.

I just ripped the whole intake apart, bead blasted it to fresh metal inside and out and had it powder coated inside and out

OH don't be so sure. If you didn't remove the cams from the motor the chains can hold the gears tight enough to make you think there is nothing wrong. I removed mine with no signs of any failure, no marks or any evidence of a lose sprocket/gear. After removal, while holding it vertical, the sprocket slid down the cam an stopped at the first cam lobe.

Isnt that a bad idea powder coating the inside of the intake runners? wouldnt that cause the runners to have less air flow? im just wondering cause im going to have my extra intake that i got from a salvage yard powder coated too.

I would say the airflow loss would be minimal. And the next time you need to clean the intake would be much easier as it will be a non-porous finish. I did not coat the inside of mine but the brake dust comes right of the calipers I did with a little wipe of a rag

Those look like nice welds. I think Kirk advocates a 360 degree weld, but those look pretty good. They should last. I've seen some damn scary welds on cams before... but that ain't one of them. :thumb:
