Cam Weld Mileage

What's the most miles anyones put on since they got there cams welded? The reason I ask is there is the debate that after 20-30k the welds could warp and cause damage. I'm just wondering if anyone has surpassed that kinda mileage with welded cams? Also because the 98 only has 31k and if thats true I don't want to get it welded till later mileage, but then I risk failure so I'm not sure. Suggestions? Ideas?

Great care is taken while welding to assure warpage doesn't occur if you go to the right people. If you are paranoid about welding get them pinned. Just do something.

I've got about 18k on my welds and all is well...

Now, if we could just weld our trannies to make them last...

That's what I think. The heat is what is going to warp them. If they don't get warped during the welding process then they certainly won't get warped from normal use anytime afterwards.

I know the S H O S h o p (I think Tom uses the search feature and only responds to posts that include the name) said that the cams could get warped after 20k miles. That's a load of crap. In my opinion they said this to sell their service. Anybody with half a brain would no this is no true.

Oh yeah, I got 12k miles on my FPS welded cams. Yes, I drove something like 1300 miles each way to get to FPS.

The cams have been known to fail at very low mileage as well, so do something to prevent the sprocket from failing. Waiting could be the big mistake. I really don't think that the warpage issue is a big thing. Sounds to me like someone's looking for another arguement, much like the pin/weld debacle. Just get it done and sleep soundly.

I have 26,000 on my welds of which 20,000 have been while running under the supercharger. thumbs_u
