Cam timing

Well after I have finished my valve stem seal install, I found that the directions on Shophoenix project really don't say how to put them in timing. I would assume to line up the dots, is this correct?

cam gears line up to lines on cover and driver side gears line up to top of the heads. I pmed you my number

Are you talking about lining up the intake to the exhaust cam (chains) or is that completed and you need to time it to the crank? I believe the latter is probably covered in a 60k how-to on the same site.

For intake/exhaust timing, there are dots on the chain gears and each chain should have two lighter colored links opposite of each othere. IIRC, the dots should be completely opposite of each other at the furthest position (dots on outside). The chains should already be lined up on the gears before installing the cams (I can't remember if you can adjust it afterwards).

The referenced Rotunda Tool Kit has a cam holding tool (verticle tool sitting furthest right in picture below). This will line up on the flat spots on the cams (located near the closet journal to the chains). As long as the raised flashing bumps are pointing away from each other and the tool fits, they should be timed.

I would highly advise having a manual at your disposal while following that guide.
