Cable to Rod shifter-how to???

Just wondering if anyone knows the proper way to put the rod shifter in a car that has the cable shifter. I know I have to drill out the bottom but what other things do I need to use off the cable set up and what do I need from the rod set up. I already have the rod shifter with the bolts. Any help would be great.

p.s. I did a search and couldnt find anything that would help me.
