C hose by oil filter...

I was overheating and steam was coming from under the hood. Took it home, popped the hood, and steam is coming out the "c" hose next to the oil filter. no, it's not leaking coolant onto the exhaust, it's literally leaking steam.

I found the part number: E9DZ-8548-B but do I have to buy the hose or can I use regular hose?

yes, that is a coolant line.

I would recommend buying the proper hose, as the bend is so tight that a non-formed hose will probably kink.

This is probably the only OEM hose you have to use because of it's shape. You could try hydraulic hose which has a steel mesh lining that would keep it from kinking. It would be a rather large loop though.

It is the engine coolant line that goes to the coolant/oil heat exchanger. Oil does not go through the hose but rather coolant.

BTW, list on it is ~$22, and the nearest one was ~6 hours away (CT). I got it the next day for $15. thumb

This hose leaked on my car many, many miles ago. I used a section of garden hose until I could locate a replacement. I found one at, of all places, a Western Auto (are any of these even open now?). It was only a few dollars. If they had it, another store may also have a Gates or other aftermarket brand of hose.

Western Auto is now Advance Auto Parts, which is now part of the Checker/Shucks/Kragen group as well. It was Western auto, then Parts America, then Advance Auto Parts. "parts america" is the conglomerate that owns all the chains I believe.

I was able to purchase a generic "molded U" piece of 5/8" coolant hose from my local independent parts place. It cost me under $2, and I was able to trim the ends down for a perfect fit.
