My turn signal and my brake lights sometimes do not work. The problem is it varies from side to side. Sometimes my left brake light comes on (and left blinker works) but the right side doesn't and vice versa.

The problem is the light doesn't blink fast inside but just doesn't come on at all. The swich does switch to the neutral position after I complete the turn.

The emergency flashers also work. I am thinking it is a short but I am not sure where to start since it happens on both sides. Thank you.

It's not a short. Shorts cause blown fuses, popped circuit breakers, smoke, etc.....

It's an intermittent open connection.

Start with a new multifunction switch. The brake light signal for the rear corners is routed through it. The high-mount stop light is a direct connection and probably works all the time in your case.

My turn signal lights stoped blinking, both the indicater lights and the bulbs. They were solid.
So I pulled all my fuses and checked them with a meter. They were all fine. Put them back in and the lights work now.
Poor contacts?

Maybe u have a similar problem.
