so, when my parking lamps and my head lights are off the brake light is lit up red on the dash

if i were to turn the headlights on low beam, the light still stays lit

but, when i turn on the hi-beams the light goes off. Anybody know why this would happen?
brake fluid is full and the brake switch is operating correctly, so what does this little funky electrical issue mean? :nut:

Had this same stupid problem, turned out the rubber stopper had melted a little causing the light to come on when I went over a bump.

is the brake light on the dash in any way tied into the multi-function lever?
it(brake light indicator on dash) comes on when headlights are on low beam, but then the light turns off when i flip it on hi beams

this is really starting to tick me off
any ideas?

There are only two things that are supposed to turn on the BRAKE warning lamp: Low fluid (from the float switch) and the emergency brake sensor switch.

The signal doesn't go through (or anywhere near) the MFS.

Sounds more like either someone hacked up the wiring and got it wrong or there's a short between two adjacent circuits in the cluster.

Do the head and running lamps come on when you set your e-brake?

fluid level is at the max line, e-brake switch is good(swapped a known good one in)
