Well with the help of some useful information from mitchell - jelloslug and a lot of research i have began the process of fixing the body of the SHO.

Mitchell helped me out by telling me about a product called POR-15 that works wonders on rust. Seals it up and has a special curing process that doesnt put moisture back onto the surface of the metal like paint. So thats where i started. Got to grinding as much as i could with the tools i have access too and cleaned everything up and used the POR-15 products. I have everything primed in the arears that i had to strip.

Now its going to be time for bondo action in the gash on the passenger side after pulling the dent a little. once that is finished ill have a beautiful two tone primer/oxford white until i can see what my options are and cost on the major repairs/paint job.

There originally was bubbling above the side panels along with the gash and bubbling over the rear wheel wells. Also, a pretty hefty amount of rust forming on the trunk. I know there are probably some major problems with the rockers as well as mostlikely with the dog legs. I want to have these taken care of professionally but figured i should get the little stuff out of the way and save myself money.

Im looking to start repairing the inner underside portion of all of the doors next week. I will also be repairing the gash in the side. Along with debadging the trunk, at least as far as the taurus symbol is concerned. I will be removing the blue paint from the ford badge and painting it oxford white. For anyone who hasnt tried this...i did it on my red SHO a while back, painted it black and i thought it looked 20 times better.

Well i just felt the need to procrastinate a little before studying calc two while at my job! I know pics would prob be nice because im sure very few have seen what my car looks like, but those are saved for the finished product. I am just excited to have things underway a little bit as far as the few but major repairs that need done to this car.

With a trans sitting on my floor, waiting for funding on a rebuild, and a clutch floating around in the mail system somewhere things are slowly coming together. By the end of the summer i plan to have everything working correctly along with definate modifications to add to the list that came with the car. cant wait to have my own original style into this car, which is what i feel the whole point in modifying is, at least cosmetically. I have a few ideas that i think are going to look good on this car and set it off right as it pulls away from some riced out junkbox with a cocky driver!

It'd be cheaper if you flew to Cali or some southern state, bought a rust-free SHO, and drove it back.

Good luck with the project though! :thumb:

Well the filling is nearly finished. Body work...i tell ya...sure works the body, my shoulders feel like they are on fire sometimes. But i only have the oppurtunty to work on the car inbetween class and work for like 2 or 3 hours at a time. That will fly when you are also looking to eat and shower to get the dust off.

I decided to remove the rocker panel molding and was surprised at how much less the damage there was than i anticipated. POR-15d the crap out of everything and I fiberglassed these portions until i can afford a transplant, hopefully before winter if not next summer.

Hopefully by the end of the week ill have the filling finished, sanded and primed. Along with the front bumper cover to remove the ware in it. Also i will be pulling my back bumper cover, because it is severly cracked and only held on the right side by a screw. I will be replacing it with the bumper cover i revieved in the mail last week (needs primed and painted).

Also have my clutch and just need to wait to make enough money to get the trans rebuilt.

Slow process but i can do only as much as i can afford. Im hoping to have the car definately at a normal state of well being by the end of august.
