Well my car's been stuck this morning so I (and my buddies) have been working on getting our cars out of the ice on the side of the street.

However, it would appear I just may have blown my tranny or the drivers side CV joint? There's a clicking while it idles, and when i try to shift into gears (with the clutch pedal down of course) I encounter cluncks and other non-wanted noises/feelings.

I did just redo my entire suspension and put a brand new clutch in —maybe i've joined the group of blown tranny's following a clutch install...

Any help is appreciated.

half-way there, I think.
Does it go into gear with the engine running? Does it go into gear with the engine off? When did it start, while driving? or while frozen in ice? Could be a broken pressure plate strap based on the noise at idle, but need a little more info.

I would think it the "diff pin throught the case" mod would be pretty easy to see. Red ATF in the white snow. I have broken a passenger side CV shaft doing almost the EXACT same thing you did. Check the CV's first. You may have broken the tri bearing inside one of the ends. Been there, done that more times than I can count.;)

looks like it's definately the drivers side CV shaft. It shifts fine while the car is off, I had my buddies come out, and the grinding is clearly coming directly from the drivers side wheel area.

Hopefully I can get it replaced by tuesday so I can get back to work!

Wait... The car goes into gear with it off. Ok great.

How about running. Will the car engage gear when it is on. Sounds more like a bad TOB or broken pressure plate strap to me.

I just replaced the clutch, PP, and installed the ceramic TOB back in the 2nd week of Jan. (along with other misc. clutch parts).

I just lay down in the snow, everything looked fine (no fluids) then i put my hand on the drivers side half shaft — I could move it around freely!!! Looks like it completely disconnected in the joint by the knuckle.

I just ordered a remanufactured drivers side half-shaft assembly, I should hopefully have it tomorrow.

put the car in gear while its running, let the clutch out,the go over to the drivers side and feel where the boots on the CV are, if you feel somthing knocking around then you have found your problem.
