First off, my no- spelling ass meant "Black/Grey Interior? Opinions wanted" as the title of this thread.

Anyway, I am switching out interiors on a grey 93 - going to a black dash.
Since a black dash with a totally grey interior would look like crap I am thinking of doing a 2 tone deal:

Black dash, steering wheel, center console, door inserts, lower trim.
Grey seats, carpet, headliner, rear decklid, and upper trim.

Any opinions on that?

Sounds good, I've seen one with a black\grey interior before at the 18th SHO convention I forget who's car but it did look pretty good. If your going to do that I would change the headliner to black.

a sucessful two tone black/grey would be

-black dash
-black steering wheel
-black center console
-black carpet
-black seats
-black seatbelts
-black rear package tray.

everything else can stay grey.

You dont think that the black dash would look weird as they flow into grey doors?

^ Agreed, either the carpet or the headliner needs to be black. I don't think it will look good with both being grey.

Black carpet, gray headliner. It'll make the car feel "taller" inside. Look inside some newere cars with dark interiors...a lot of them have a lighter color headliner.

ah, last one i left out. black doors as well. and i guess the rear package tray doesn't really matter if you have tint on your back windows. if you don't have tint I think a black one would look better IMO

get it all? I mean, i would do what he has and collect it and add it over time.. I was never a big fan of 2 tone. I still havent swapped over my steering wheel and it drives me nuts.

You guys are right, I dont have it all, I am missing the headliner and some upper rear trim parts.

I was even thinking of taking the black door and swapping out the "leather part" (I'm sure it's probably vinyl) for the grey ones - so have a black door with grey peices that would match the seats.

I dunno, you guys have given me lots to think about.

How about this

Black door panels
black lower trim pieces
black dash,
black center consol
two tone the seats, black sides, gray middle sections---rear too
grey carpet
grey package tray
mix and match black and grey door panels...mostly black with grey offsets
grey upper trim pieces,
grey visors

yeah but get a good puller. the one from pep boys sucks. either way it will get the job done. but seriously it takes like 5 minutes.

I know you are doing black/grey, but here is what I did on my black/mocha two-tone. I like it. Haven't seen too many two tone interiors, glad to see more of this. Have fun with it, mix and match, you can always change it back if you don't like it, well, dash might be a little much to change back.

I still need to paint my passenger airbag. :p

Here is what I started with on my 94.

Here is what it is now. Pretty timely thread, this interior is about finished. I just need a few more key pieces and it will be done.

that looks great, except for the dash. the dash, with those 2 black pieces on the passenger side..... well, not so much.

That's why I am going to paint the airbag, so it doesn't look like that up top. Eventually I will change the dash to a black one (sitting in my shed) whenever my "core" goes.
