get this turbo kit from Chris, i drove in his 91 turbo SHO and that thing is an airplane  if it had wings, you could literally take off. with this kit, you'll have everything needed to make a turbo SHO successful like his

What, the turbo sho? It's Chris's aka sho-ripper aka bittersweetsho. Looks like a good turbo kit to me though. Deffintly knowing more about what is in the kit would help it sell.

Yeah it looks like a good starters kit but I would def look into imroving the Y where the 2 manifolds come together. The piping looks pretty good but would def be better if Mandrel bends were optional. The 2.5" downpipe is fine if it kept its' size with mandrel bends. I still dont like the turbo up in the place of the airbox. Too much heat for the area under hood. I would be cool with my cowl hood. Also there needs to be a way to intercool it. You might be able to rotate the compressor housing forward almost flat and run a 90 deg connector off of it through the fender wall and down into a fmic with the inlet outlet on the same side.

Just an idea.

Any kind of piping you want you can have. If you had a request of using different metal (ex. stainless) it could be worked out. Mandrel bent peices are there if you want them, but of course, it would cost more. For everything Chris offers, for the price... beleive me its all there.

Whether you want to intercool the setup or not, its your choice. I know I wouldnt boost anything without something cooling it down.. But many people do it with no problems.

Well if thats the case. I have been trying to call him everyday. No joy. I am pretty impatient for email sometimes. 1 quick phone call answers almost all questions right then and there. I might get parts of this kit and upgrade where higher power parts are needed. I want to run at least 12psi so intercooling is a must. A bigger MAF is a must also I also have a SCT that will be reprogrammed by Doug Lewis at FPS when ready. Injectors will be the 42-48# units. Ceramic coating and or heat wrap is a must on the turbo piping and a ceramic coating and or heat blanket for the Turbine side is also a must. Burning wires is not a fun thing. Anybody know what turbo he is using or wastegate? I will try calling him again.

Well I got ahold of him and he said he can modify the system to fit my plans. Mandrel bent with bigger turbo, FMIC, piping, accel 48# injectors, He said a 38mm tial wastegate should be fine of he could get a bigger one. I might just do this to try to meet my april deadline. We will see once he emails me with the specs of the kit.

BTW he said the the $3500 kit comes with a new TO4B Garret turbo and a Tial 38mm external wastegate. He said that he can get SS mandrel piping if you wanted it but it would cost more. I'm getting kinda excited.

I will upgrade to that later if it needs it. I am sure a good tune on the SCT chip will hold up very well with this system. When I learn more on ecu tuning I will dab in it myself. I'm sure Doug can pull off a nice tune for the turbo FI setup.

Just a bit of info here, on a 5.0 with a single 3" mandrel downpipe, you can make over 600hp. That is with a Bullet muffler.

yea im over the downpipe size. its fine. my only major concern now is the tuning of it. i know tweecer would be the best, but theres another 500 plus a laptop, and i have no clue how to even use it. so its basically the tuning that is preventing me from buying this. o yea, and the other 1200 for a quafie...

I would never "tune" a forced induction car using a mail order setup. Nor would I want to use the SCT when the TwEECer RT can adjust so many more variables with the ability to datalog. It's only a suggestion but if you are going to build a monster engine with a turbo system, I would try to get pretty familiar with the EEC-IV and how it works before you blow up your motor and throw a ton of cash down the drain. :)

Okay the Mail order tuning is a temporary thing as I have mentioned a Dyno bash with a top SCT tuner up in Germany in late april. I will have the car dyno tuned by this SCT tuner guy before the car gets truely beat on. I would never just install a chip an be off burning tires. I was planning on getting a Tweecer RT with a tune from Toolman and using a to be installed Carputer hooked up to my 6.5" indash HU to tune the Tweecer from there. My plans are to go up over and beyond what just about anybody on this forum has done in a total car package. That is just the way I am. I really do appreciate all the advice though. Keep it coming.

ManySHOs i agree that the optimal way to tune any car is doing it yourself with realtime datalogging (my friend and i tune his turbo charged 04 civic with RT datalogging). The thing is not everyone has the money to spend on a laptop and a $400+ tuner, nor do they have the knowledge or in some cases want to have the knowledge to tune thier own car. Toolman's SHO ran for years with an LPM, same with many other FI SHOs and they put down some serious hp #'s.

I'm not out to knock your kit so please don't take my comments personally. However, this is a grey area. The people who don't want to spend money on a tuner or a used laptop probably shouldn't be spending the money on a turbo kit (plus the labor to install it unless they are doing it all themselves) or any FI kit. My personal experience with blown SHO's is that the owner will:

1. Develop intimate knowledge of the EEC-IV whether they want to or not.
2. Pay someone else to tune their car if they don't want to deal with it.
3. Give up and sell the car.
4. Some combination of the above.

Other cars may have put down serious numbers but that doesn't impress me as much as cars that put down serious numbers that are tuned properly. With FI, it's a whole 'nother ball game. I'm curious; are your LPM burns custom for each person's mods or are they all the same program? Are you creating the programs yourself and will you reburn LPM's as further tuning is needed? Is that included in the $3499 price?

I totally understand that your comments aren't bashing the kit.
Every LPM is tuned for the individual's car. Everyone who is interested in buying a kit will be advised by me to get a twEECer but for those who don't want to tune their car the LPM is the next best thing. They will also be able to send the LPM back for a retune after there is dyno time.
