Their quality went down for quite a while but their new mid to upper level head units are decent for the price. I wouldn't use their speakers though.

CDX-M9905X is about the only deck I would own that they've made. But its getting kinda old now and never had a detachable face. The face issue is the only reason I never owned one. They just gave you a black plastic cover to snap over it when not in use. I think most theives are smarter than that. But you're spot on with the speakers. No way in **** would I use them. Its about the same quality as "Dual".

meh, i got two xplod decks for free, one in the wife's car (it didn't come with a H/U, p/o took his out and i needed something, it was free and it was ipod ready) the other went into my truck (also free, and bluetooth/ipod ready which is handy for my job since i work from my car and on the phone a lot).

i definitely hesitate to complain about free, and having them hooked up to just stock speakers they work just fine.

but in the SHO i have a very old Panasonic deck that still works just fine. its only hooked up to stock speakers though. it'll be getting swapped for a pioneer flip up H/U with DVD navigation at some point.

I have some 6.5 inch xplods that I got on clearance at wally world for 18 bucks! They're in the back of the van. That's cheaper than the generic ones they sell, and they're better than the disintegrated factory speakers. They were originally 60 bucks or so.

I put a CDX-GT930 in the GTP. I got it for $169 on fleabay and it plays digital music formats from a usb flash drive. I've been very pleased with it so far for the price.

FWIW, i haven't been running a rear fill in mine for quite some time. with a properly set up front stage, the rear stage'll make it sound worse. my advice is to get a decent aftermarket head unit, bypass the stock amps, and get a dedicated sub and amp.

I just got a new JVC unit from walmart. It was like $120 and plays all types of formats and is satelite ready. It sounds very good and i'm very happy with it. You should always check walmart.com before you buy. Alot of the stuff that electronic stores carry can be had online at walmart for cheaper.
