Instead of spending the $177 or so apiece for new headlight assemblies, I figured I'd try my hand at touching them up myself.
So, my question is, who here has polished their headlights, and what did you use? Would a standard plastic polishing compound with a little elbow grease work fine, or is there something else that I should use?
Let me know. I want to have the headlight assemblies all purty for the HIDs I'll be getting.

Wuzzer,

I just finished my left side head light lense. I sanded out the hundreds of little stone nicks starting with 600 wet/dry sandpaper. I sanded with water, i.e. "wet sanded".

Then I moved to finer grits of wet/dry sand paper. I used 800, then 1500, and finally 2000. I finished the polishing job with Novus plastic polish, starting with Novus #3, then #2, and finally #1.

I finished the job with a coat of McGuires Yellow Wax (Carnuba wax). It came out great, but was time consuming.

I am goin to try puting a coat of clear paint, laquer and enamel, on a scrap piece. I want to know if the plastic will stand up to the paint, and/or thinner, before I try it on a good lense.

I think Auto Zone sells a polishing kit for this purpose. You may want to look into that also. Hope this helps, rangerj
