SUV may sell them seperately now, they didn't when I was first looking a year or so ago.

I didn't think Walmart would sell anything useful like that! If they do sell the female connectors, them and a resistor can be used to fake the Lamp Out light on the dash from coming on.

FWIW the GEN 1-2s are really not in need of the headlight harness upgrade near as much as the Gen 3s.

And the Silver Stars should be much better on high beam than stock but near the same on low beam.

NOt true on the harness. If you upgrade the harness on a gen 2 its like night and day.

Well there is the old and corroded reason too. But the GEN 1-2 have a larger wire size than the GEN 3.

+1. I've also heard that the gen1's benefit greatly from one as well.

FWIW, here's some info Daniel Stern sent me about 9007 bulbs:

"The best 9007 bulbs presently on the market are the GE Night Hawk 9007NH
(Wal-Mart stocks these) and the Philips VisionPlus 9007VP. Avoid Sylvania
Silverstar/Ultra, Wagner TruView, PIAA, and all other brands of blue-glass
"extra white" bulbs. They are a scam; despite the advertising hype, they
significantly reduce headlamp performance rather than increasing it."

FWIW, I have the xtravisions now which he said is considered a +30 bulb. He said that I could do much better with the GE NightHawk or the Philips VisionPlus. The American silverstars are a joke; unfortunately, the better European Osram silverstar +50's are not made in the 9007 size (nor are the better Narva RangePower +50's. I'll probably try to get ahold of a pair of GE bulbs whenever I take a notion to it. I used to have the US silverstars and had difficulty seeing during wet weather.

I ordered Osram Silverstars from the UK for my girlfriend's 2004 Escape. I'm looking forward to installing them in her upgraded 2005+ headlights.

I also had a Silverstar burn out so I switched both bulbs to Xtravisions. I guess they are brighter, but I'm tempted to try the GE or Philips bulbs that you mentioned.

Let me know. I have 10 sets of both d1s and d2s projectors here. I can help you if needed.

I am looking at some Hella Highperformance 100/80 for my 91...I don't want any blue tinted bulbs...

I would avoid over wattage bulbs. You might want to read up on some bulb stuff at http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ or consult with your local headlight guy, (Herman). Have you seen him lately? I wonder if he's finished retrofitting his Altima with projectors...

Yes I forgot the about headlight switch wiring in the GEN 1-2s.
Yup. It's bad. As is the lamp out warning system. The warning system on the Gen 2 causes a voltage drop of 0.25V to each low beam.

Yeah, but you are running a relay from somewhere to power your ballasts, right? The ballasts can pull 40a during startup. (at least that's what I've read; I've also heard that it's a little lower but regardless, it's more than the stock wiring was designed to handle.) That kind of load can melt the stock wiring and headlight switch.

I haven't seen Herman in a while. I liked his SHO retrofit, and I am sure the altima will look good...

I had some on my '97 and the didn't draw any more amps than stock at initial start up.. The voltage peaked at ~100V when initialized but settled down to 30 or so when running.
