To All SHO Patriots;

My Battery light came on, therefore, I had the alternator and battery checked out. All was OK. Battery showed Green, and Alternator showed 14 Volts, and 97 Peek Amps. Light continues to flicker on and off at will. I unpluged the connector to the alternator, cleaned it and the connector prongs on the alternator, still get a flicker now and then. Should I replace my alternator? Last point, when I unplug the connector to the alternator, the light goes out, when I plug it back in, the light goes back on.

Any help please...

Welcome! Good first post.

By green ( on the battery ) I assume you mean the little eye on top. You need to have the battery tested with a load. Not just looking at the eye. That only shows the condition of one cell in the battery.

If the battery tests good, and terminals are clean and tight. I would assume there is an issue with the regulator ( inside the alternator ).

Then it's just a matter of time , prepare yourself for an alternator rebuilt. The batt light often sees whats coming while a regular tester will tell you the alt is good. Happens all the time. PS: Dont buy NAPA ones. Get it rebuilt by a professional.

i agree with sho#7 it sounds like you need to do a complete battery test..be carful unfortunitly not all shops/parts houses do a complete battery inspection...
I would check the specific gravity of each cell (UNLESS A SEALED BATTERY) take the highest reading and the lowest reading if the two are more than 50 from eachother the battery is no good.
After that i would do a sun 3 min test (put your battery on a charger as high as it will go perferably 60-100 amps might be jump start selection on some chargers with charger on time the charge if the battery voltage goes over 16 volts in three minutes it is no good.
After these were tested and passed i would then load test the battery-(need a load tester if you dont have on most parts houses will do it for free CSK-Oreillys autozone napa etc..
I bet the battery is starting to break down or sulfate....most of the time the lead on the plates break loose (becouse of supperior craftsmenship) and builds up on the bottom of the case causeing the battery to start combining or shorting cells to eachother..i have had batterys come in for testing that csk said was good that was no longer 6 cells but only 3...Good luck

Also make sure the connections to the battery are clean and properly connected.
