Damn it. Just when i thought I coud start modifying a little. It looks like im sending those mufflers back now. I took my car to my mechanic to put the mufflers on but i had him check for a coolant leak because i could smell it but not see it. I NEED A NEW WATERPUMP! Talk about getting kicked in the teeth. On top of this, they don't think they're even sure if they'll do the job. There is no way in **** I could do it in the estimated 4-6 hours. Great start to the weekend huh? Any pointers about the water pump job? Any know where i can get one cheaper than Fordpartsnetwork.com (194.00) Thanks in advance

Yup, try your friendly NAPA. I bought mine there for $42, and the next time could probably do the job in a day. It took a couple trips to SEARS to get the appropriate tools, etc, but its not a hard job. The nice thing is you can change the belts and CPS while your at it, also the front seal. I bought most of these things from Citrus Ford, great folks by the way, at a substantial discount. Look at this as an opportunity, not a setback. ;-)

The Ford pumps are new, complete pumps where the auto supplies sell the rebuilt front casing half. The rebuilts are really a good idea for several reasons. The only portion of the pump that has any wearable or moving parts is the front casing that includes the shaft, impeller, seals and bearings. That is exactly what the rebuilts provide. The OEM casing, impeller and shaft are refinished (look new), the seals and bearings are replaced (are new) and a new casing gasket is supplied. To complete this good offer, the rebuilts usually come with a lifetime warranty. With the miles we roll up on these cars, that can really pay off in the long run.
