I put in my cams over the weekend and it does not idle. But if I rev it to 1K and SLOWLY let off, it will idle around 750-800 rpm. I tried the "idle reset procedure" but for that to work, the car must be idling when you first fire it up, which mine does not. Any ideas?

I haven't. How would I do that? I haven't replaced the IAC before and I think I got a code for it a while ago that went away. It idled fine right before I put the cams in though. Also, are there any little tricks to get more fuel flow out of the stock pump?

Check to make sure that the intake is tight on the heads and not leaking past the lower intake gasket. Check all vac. lines to make sure all are connected and in good condition. Also check the couplers connecting the butterflies to the snakes to make sure all of them are tight and not letting unmetered air in.

Usually a no idle/poor idle will lead you to the IAC. Also, is the MAF clean/plugged in? how about the TPS, is it plugged in/seated fully?

Adjustable fuel regulator - but why do you need more fuel flow? Stock pump should be fine.

you will notice an intake leak. atleast one big enough to **** the motor...
and most others for that matter...

you could spray carb cleaner around the intake manifold... i have been told to try this, but i did not want to attempt it...

pull the codes now... as the car has ran... so there should be something in there...

My guess is something intake related...

Dave, when I dynoed my car at Slingshot, it was kind of lean so cams probably only make that worse. I will check everything tonight and let you guys know if it works. Thanks.

Have you replaced the O2's? Or the ECT sensor? These can/will cause a lean condition. So will a dirty MAF. How's the fuel filter?

Plus you swapped in a 3.2l with the cams right? You may also need some tuning to help with the lean issue.

I installed new O2s since I dyno'd it. What is an ECT sensor? I will clean the MAF. The in-tank fuel filter? That is new. Nope, still the 3.0 for now, but the cams made a huge difference, even with a stock y-pipe.

ECT-- Engine coolant temp sensor. Look to the left of the thermostat. And the fuel filter is not in the tank.

Is the timing right?

I wol dbe leaning towards this too.

The carb cleaner trick that Saleen SHO mentioned does work and I have used it before. If you spray it around the base of the intake while the motor is running, there will be a noticable change in the idle.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that. Take the intake off and start fresh, cause all it takes it 1 bolt that isn't torqued down properly to really mess up your life.

Where is the fuel filter then? I quadruple-checked the timing when I was putting it together. I tried my brother's IAC and it made no difference. All the gaskets are new in the intake and all the bolts are torqued down, but I think I am going to try this carb-cleaner idea just to be sure. I don't have any carb cleaner, so I can't clean the MAF or spray the intake, but I'll pick some up tomorrow.

Dont use carb cleaner on your MAF, Stick to electrical contact cleaner for that... Hope you get it idling :thumb:

It is very possible that the issue is just a matter of the stock idle being too low for the cams. With the stock idle speed, my car would stall every once in a while. I picked the idle up to 1000 and everything was fine.

With these cams (and all others with overlap) you will lose intake vacuum, which affects many parts of the car's function.

Did you use the LPM to raise the idle? Like I said, the idle reset procedure didn't work, but I put a thin piece of metal in between the throttle stop screw and plate (instead of actually adusting the screw) and the idle was about 1000rpm and it was running pretty smoothly. Is there a more permenant fix for this w/out an LPM?

Is there anything wrong with adjusting the throttle stop screw so it idles? Like I said, once it was open that little bit more it idled pretty good. Not perfect, but good (and I'm not talking about the fact that it's lopey-that's obviously expected).

The ECT is to the right of the thermostat, it has 2 pins and feeds temp info to the computer. The temp sensor to the left of the thermostat has only 1 pin and feeds the temp gauge but not the computer.
