Is there any way to cure axle hop durring wheel spin in our cars? I currently have Eibachs and Konis and Alum SFBs. SFCs and a quaife is in the works.

Crank up the rebound on the koni's, and drop the tire pressure. Stiff sidewall tires don't help either.

I would venture to say SFC's don't have a thing to do with it.

I get a little bit of wheel hop. And as you can see in my sig, there isn't a thing I'm missing in the handling department. But I do have worn motor mounts. Check your front bank plenum on the manifold, right next to the "O" in SHO. If it has a nice little polished spot, worn mounts are the culprit.

Come to think of it, I didn't remember this much hop last year with the old Dunlop SP 5000s. It seemed to get bad when I had the BFG KDWs put on. Definately a stiffer side wall.

Thanx guys!

Sub frame connectors help this out very much-in fact it completely eliminated any hop at all in my 89 with Eibachs,Koni,Dunlop sp8000 (very stiff sidewalls). Your frame refuses to flex and keeps the tires planted. wink

The KDW's are by far the stiffest tire I have ever run on my SHO, but they are too damn heavy, 28lbs. per tire. I just put on 2 Yokohama ES100's, they were recommended to me by my friends in the BMW club and so far they seem to be just as good or getter than the KDWs and they weigh less, not sure of the exact weight. Overall the KDWs are a great autocross/road course tire, but they are too stiff and heavy for the strip.

Wheel hop is from traction-no traction-traction. The hop is becasue of the force of the tire biting then letting go and biting causing the wheel to hop up and down. The factory springs do not have enough rate to control this very well, especially with the factory struts. TUrning the koni's up to full firm helps out a lot, plus better springs help out even more.

I have a slight amount of wheel hop now..but my suspension set up is extreme
