How stock is stock? Can you tune if you don't do anything else? How would they know? How about a CAI or a catsback exhaust?

For SCCA rules there are alot you can do to a typically car, but the SHO has no real aftermarket suspension parts. so there isn't much we can do. If i did the lowering springs and/or a tune that would put in a class called SMS which is fully of highly modded M3s, STs & Evo. In that class no matter what power i had i couldn't be competitive so thats why i'm running a stock class. The car is actually competitive in RTA. I ran against at STi this past event who had better tires and only lost to him be less than 2seconds, so i'm happy where i am.

If i didn't care about the rules i could cheat and get tuned. Most people don't know enough about the SHO to tell, but wheres the fun in that. Plus i am not lacking for power with my PP car now so more power wouldn't help all that much.

I agree with you on tuning. I have been running my Flex "tune-less" for last year and Ford has fixed all of the tranny shifting issues, and much of the performance gaps from the stock strategy Ford tune back in early 2010.

Can you change to different tires and lighter wheels if they are the same size/width, or are you required to use the stock rims?

same size wheels(width and height), starting next year, that will change to +/- 1" on height and remain same width......and Rcomps will be gone in stock classes within 2 years was the last word I had.

Given the STi is lighter, better tires, better power to weight ratio, better awd system. Theres a reason why i'm in GS and he is in BS. I'm pretty happy how close i got. STis are really good AutoX cars and given my 4300lbs tank was able to stay that close to it is something to be proud of. That car surprised alot of people out there.
