yes, you leave the connector jumped to fool the system into thinking someone is sitting in the seat. My car wouldn't do it at first either, but when I had to disconnect the battery for something sometime, when I hooked it back up the autolock worked.

I feel like an idiot asking this but, what does it mean to "jumper" a connector? Is that to just stick a wire into the two connector holes and its jumpered?

I ran mine with the connector jumpered for a while, but it was a PITA having to use the keypad to unlock the door after exiting the car with the engine running and the autolock activated. So, I just bought the OE switch, removed the driver's seat and installed the switch. Now no problems, just the way Ford should have done it at the factory. You just have to put it and out of into reverse on a MTX for it to activate.

In an ATX you always activate the backup light circuit when you shift from park into drive, because you monemtarily past through reverse.
