It is driving me crazy. I only have 4th and 5th gear. I have tried to pull up on the clutch pedal, but nothing. Still the same. So how do I do it manually?

Push up the clutch pedal, then push the blue quadrant downward [I believe it's downward, if not then it's upward] and release the upward pressure on the clutch pedal so it can lock on the quadrant. Keep doing it until you find your sweet spot. However, if you do this, then later hear some clicking from the pedal and get your symptoms back, you most likely have a bad quadrant. I had this problem and the little spring deal on the backside was broke.

I will give it a shot tomarrow. Thats what one guy told me that it is a spring. Would it cost alot for a mechanic to fix it?
Thanks.

the blue quadrent is up under the dash, on top of the clutch pedal.

just as TySHO (brian) explained, you need to pull the pedal up, (that in itself should reset it) and get a long screwdriver to push the quadrent towards the engine bay/firewall. you need only to move it maybe a 1/8'' or so, maybe a 1/4'' if its all out of whack.

Ford carries new quadrent kits.
its called quad&pawl kit. P# E7FZ-7L583-A I cant recall the price, but its not more than like 30 bucks or so....

its inbetween the pedal "walls" up on top of the pedal... its like a baby blue.
its hard to see without some light in there, but once you find it is easy to find again.

Could you please post a picture? I spent a long time looking at it and kinda messing around with it, but I didn't get anywhere but a sore back from being at an awkward angle. Does anything have to be loosened at all? Bolts? 'Cause my pedal doesn't go up too far from it's resting position.

It bearly takes anything to make the cable release tension. If you have the pedal pushed up as much as it can go, that's good and you don't need to hold it with 500 pounds of pressure, just keep it in place.

Here's a picture I just took like 5 minutes ago. The part is in the black circle and is blue:

well, I got it to work, but my SHO still does the same thing. It's kinda difficult to get it into some gears. I always have to be careful, otherwise it'll grind. Even though it's kinda rednecked and cheap, I'm thinking about trying to put washers on the cable just after the fork on the transmission, to kinda pick up on what seems to be a little slack that the clutch adjustment won't catch. Any input?
