My stock radio is dying on me, so I just ordered a brand new Alpine CDA-9833 HU, with plans to eventually get a new amp and speakers/sub. Until I get the money for the rest of the stuff, I'd like to run the speakers off the Alpine HU, and use the factory sub and sub amp.

I'm planning on running 3 sets of RCA cables and remote turn-on wire from the HU to the trunk, and removing the existing wiring there (I really only need to add one set of RCA cables and leave the stock wiring, but I'll want to do this once I get the amp anyways, so I might as well do it now). I'll hook up one set of RCAs to the sub preamp outputs on the HU, and then use an adapter to connect the other 2 sets to the amplified outputs on the HU. In the trunk, I'll use more adapters to connect the amplified RCAs to the 4 speaker's wires and the sub amp inputs, plus connect the remote turn-on to the sub-amp.

When I do eventually get a new amp/speakers, all I'll need to do is move the RCAs to the preamps on the HU and to the new amp's inputs.

Does this sound like a decent plan? How long do the RCA patch cables need to be to reach from the HU to the trunk? What kind of wire should I use for the remote turn-on?

Thanks for any help!
