I recently got the ATX rebuilt in my 93, and I've had it back for almost a month, but the mount were SHOT...so I'd not really had an opportunity to drive it. Got all mounts replaced and got it goin finally...and MAN, does it shift hard. I mean from first to second jars the ENTIRE CAR...then second to third is a little more mellow, but still too stout in my opinion. It also does something odd in that when I'm coasting, it'll downshift noticeably...I've taken it back to the tranny shop I got the work done at, and he's taken the trans back out and rechecked all work and the calibrations, and it all checks out...so, I'm thinkin it's something electrical because the CE Light will also flash when it's going through this erratic shifts. It doesn't shift this way ALL the time, but when it does, I've noticed that the CE light does correspond with the behavior.

ANY IDEAS????

Have you pulled the codes? I personally do not know if the it will pick up any codes without the CEL actually on... Hopefully someone will chime in soon and make up for my ignorance. Good luck.

I've tried to pull the codes at Autozone, but of course, the codes don't populate if the light isn't actually on. Haven't taken it to a dealer, though, cuz of the heavy tag on diagnostic tests now...hoping to get insight from here.

could it be producing too much pressure and kicking on the CEL? What all was done to the tranny at rebuild? Did you get a different TC? Very interested, keep us informed on this!

were's yager, he could give you a good point in the right direction. did you have a shift calibration kit installed? such as transgo, or shift technoligies( superior) or sonax? i doubt thats the problem, specially with hard downshift, i know from a few sources that putting the extra spring in the valve body really gives a positive shift, i didn't put that one in, just the ones in the acumulator pistons.

Sounds like the rebuilder reversed the wire leads for the EPC and the TCC solenoids.

A simple resistance check will show if this is the issue. The solenoids have different resistance values for each of the coils.

Don't ask me how I found this one out....
