Hey Folks, I searched the threads for my scenario didnt see. I have a ATX drives great in all forward gears no slippage. NO Reverse. Play with shifter move from all gears back to reverse, it does nothing (slight whirring sound). No leaks, clean fluid.
Any suggestions?

Drop the pan, see if there is anything in there.

I am sure there is a possibilty of some minor broken parts in the valve body, but that is a task in itself. Most likely an internal problem.

Thanks Mike, I will check- not most mechanically inclined, not willing to be taken either. Is your company corporate owned or franchised. I might try local branch.

We are locally owned. I can not promise good service at any other center but mine. I know mine is great :) but can not tell you where to take your car.

My best transmission shop advice is this.

Go talk with them, use your gut to make the call on if they are trustworthy. Ask to speak with the rebuilder, and ask if he knows of any upgrades to be done on your transmission. Most rebuilders who take pride in their work, will go on and on about what things they can do differently over the Ford Engineers. Look around the shop and see if cars look like they are getting proper care, ( tons of greasy prints are not care ) look to see how clean the shop is... Etc.

If you get a good response on the above, and they offer a good warranty. They most likely are a good choice for a repair center. And just an FYI, you should expect the 2k range to rebuild the transmission and torque converter.

Drop the pan and check to see if the ATF fluid transfer tube that goes to the reverse drum has popped out of the drum. It actually presses into the reverse clutch drum.......if you pull down on it lightly and it is loose you need to secrue it. If it is loose, you are losing fluid pressure to the reverse drum and hence no reverse.

I'd lay a bet on this one.....

If it isn't this, you're pretty much screwed.
