Are injector pintle caps necessary?

I just got finished putting some Accel 48lb injectors in my car and decided to look up installing injectors to make sure I did everything right, and of course I skipped a step I didn't transfer the pintle caps from the old injectors to the new ones. Considering the larger size of the Accel injector tips I don't think they would have fit anyways, but I'm just wondering if they're necessary or not and if it's something I should worry about.

You shouldn't need to swap anything over. What style of Accel 48's did you install (yellow or silver)?
