Greetings Everyone,
It seems like no one has been out here in almost a year, That's kind of a shame. So I thought I would introduce myself and see if there was any interest in changing that, I am Charlie, and have been a Ford guy all my life and just bought my SHO in October, I love this car it reminds me of the Old School Fairlane's and Galaxie's which I used to read about as a kid. So I was wondering if there is anyone out there who might want to start a cruise night or meeting in a parking lot somewhere in Tidewater area and swap stories, mechanics, speed shop information etc. I also own a bone stock 1989 Mustang so I it cold be a SHO/FORD get together. There are lots of people out there trying to get our money, us car guys need to stick together. Have a great day everyone I look forward to hearing from you.

There used to be a few guys in your area. I think everyone is slowly moving on though. Kevin sold his 92 last year and Jamie just recently sold his 97. Not sure if he still has a Gen2 or not. Sam parted his track car. DJ just recently had his Gen1 put back in the road so I'm sure he'd like to meet up sometime. There is a Tidewater Facebook page set up that I'm a member of but not many people get on it. There is more traffic on the SESHO Facebook page. You should join both.

A or of the activity is now found on facebook. There is even a SHOforum page on FB. This has meant a reduction of traffic to this site. We are currently trying to set up some activities for 2017. Charlie, where are you located?

Thanks for the reply's , I know its hard to believe but (LOL) I am not on the Facebook machine, If someone wants to track me down for something they will have to do it the old fashion way and hire a Private Detective. I have seen a few Gen4 out there on the road so I'm a little disappointed no one is out here from the Tidewater area, I am in the Churchland area of Portsmouth myself, and I know of one just up the road I guess I will have to introduce myself, Have a great day everyone.

Well its seems my question has been answered, No there is no one out there in Tidewater Va. Oh well it was a nice though, Anyway if someone stumbles across this thread who lives in my area drop me a line. Especially if you have any repair shop recommendations specifically a really good muffler shop because replaceing my down pipes and exhaust system is on my list, Have a great day.

I echo what Chad said. He is a driving force behind SESHO and **** was that for the Tidewater group and he has stepped back from doing that sort of stuff so it's pretty dead. As far as the newer SHO models, I have no idea where to take it locally. If you find a really competent shop please post it for the rest of us.
From personal experience over the years in VA Beach
I like the guys at Protime automotive over on Haygood road. The owner Howard used to be a service mgr at one of the local Ford Dealerships for a long time.. and the lead tech over there is good (forget his name but Italian dude whose whole family are good techs around town). Owner runs an eco boost F150 from what I recall and runs race Mustangs I think so I would start there.

There's a head tech at Speedy Muffler on Indian River road that I like to go to for repairs. Really a natural at finding difficult to locate stuff and good with the wrenches. I usually take my GenII over there for stuff I don't want or have time to fiddle with.

Neither place is cheap, but not overly expensive vs most shops either. Just keep in mind that even good shops are only as good as the specific tech that's wrenching on your car.

- Well lets be honest the SHO is a real small market to begin with and most of the new cars are just used for transportation, I may need to find a Performance Ford club or something to hang out with.
- You would think with as many repair/service shops as are out there finding a place to work on your car would be easy. It is not, Thing is there really not that many shops anymore that are run by real car enthusiast. When I was a kid every shop had guys who liked to go fast now they just want to get paid. Should have seen me trying to explain to a shop owner what the PTU was and why I wanted to replace my plugs when it was no where near time to replace them. When I said it was in preparation for a Tune he gave me a funny look and asked why I didn't just buy a Corvette. I also have a 89 F150 I need a mild restoration on and have been looking for about a year for the right shop.
- Anyway I live in Churchland so that's a bit of a hike if I have to drop the car off, but thanks for the information, if I find a great shop I will let you know.

Yeah Churchland is a hike. Herbie at the Ford dealership out by Chesapeake square used to work at Protime and the Freedom Ford dealership in Norfolk (bought out by Priority) before that. Good for maintenance wrenching. As for a good performance shop, I would look at mustang specialty places that deal with the eco boost cars. Really tough to find

Tidewater area still dead?
I'm in VA Beach. I'll be doing a 60k on my '95 next week. This will be my weekend toy and occasional driver. Hopefully will see some more of these cars in my area.

Dead, Buried, and someone stole the tombstone, I guess maybe I should try a general Ford Performance or Mustang Forum. but I have not gotten around to it yet, I was going to have down pipes installed last month but after stopping by a couple of places an dealing with the whole Auto Shop Attitude I gave up for awhile. Maybe when it stops raining I will feel like looking again, Have a great week thanks for keeping track,

Chesapeake here. Have an all black 14 that I do all my own work on. Been around the area for awhile now and this is my first 4 door. Have had mustangs before this. My previous was a 99 cobra. There are plenty of car events that I go to. Look up Night Moves and spring fest just passed. Always looking for people to chat with that share my common interest and hang with me an buddies at car meets. If you're looking to do down pipes it's really not that hard. I could always assist. I've done suspension all the way to engine rebuilds. Just shoot me a line on here or EBPF

Greetings, Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I am a long time Mustang guy myself we still have four in the family, but I wanted something comfortable an quiet. Not so much the four doors more its as long as a boat and weighs twice as much. More times then I care to admit I noticed its real easy to over drive the brakes. Anyway, Yes that would be very nice to chat with another SHO driver, Most people don't even know what I am talking about and no matter how much you change it will never look much like a Muscle Car, that is good an bad, Do you ever go to the Dairy Queen by Chesapeake Square Mall, they have something every Thursday, but its kind of early an hot for me to hang out. Let me know next time you come out for something.

Charlie,
I've had my Fox body mustang phase, my Porsche phase. Now for something completely different. My latest in a long line of forgotten Fords. I will be doing the 60k over the next week, and aluminum sub bushings. By July it should be cruise worthy. I'll drop you a line when the wheels are back on my clown car.

LMAO Well I came home from the hospital in a Midnight Blue 1965 Mustang 2+2 with 289/271, four speed an three deuces, so yea I guess you could call that a Mustang phase. Kind of wish the car gene had skipped me I would have a lot more money and way more room in my yard.

I am just logging in for the first time in probably a few years (so long that I am just now noticing how out of date my profile info is haha). Most owners are on a few of the fb pages and groups.

FB group seems active, but you can't beat the wealth of info on this site.
I was showing the car (on jack stands still) to my 23-year old son last night. He didn't quite know what to make of the car other than thinking it was kinda weird. As soon as my next RockAuto box arrives, I'll be able to reassemble and demonstrate the classic weirdness.

Welcome Back someguy35, we need all the help we can get out here even if we are driving two very different cars,

LOL As I said before I am not a FB guy I don't really think its all that great, if I want you to know what I am doing I will call you and tell you additionally, If you want to find me your going to have to hire a Private Detective, like the old days. I have found that anyone from the ages of 15-28 are not impressed by anything someone over the age of 40 thinks cool. especially someone related to you. Look forward to seeing you on the road.
