I'm looking to get my intake powder coated while I have the car off the road. Anyone know a good place in the NJ area. Experiences? prices?

I want to get something done this week for the intake when I get my tax money.

Paint it yourself. P/C is VERY expensive! My buddy paid $300 just for his valve covers. You'd be happy with the paint process.

I used "yamahaSHO's" procedure for mine. Came out awesome. If you search you should find it. I just think of it in theterms of $300+ for P/C OR $15-20 for some paint & sandpaper.

Take the extra $$$$ and buy something more useful:thumb:

I got my done locally here. I paid 350 for VC, intake, alt cover and some brackets. It was a 2 colors, one being a vein.

Theres a place I found in PA good prices. never been there but here the site. Lots of good reviews on the tri-state tuners forum.

powder for P/C is actually kinda cheap.
i did it myself a few times.
i paid anywhere from $20-$40 a pound depends on the color and such.

its actually easy to do.

what i learned is just be sure to keep the temp right or it will come out weak.

even if you buy a cheap P/C system and have a crap air compressor it will cost you on the high side or about $80
40 for powder and 40 for a cheap P/C setup

just a little side note... dont use a crappy oven

Sorry it's a little dirty!

I did the "2- tone " when I had it apart installing my BBB's!

The whole 'Painting Process' cost me about $30 and was done in 1 day:)

good question! I was planning on keeping this SHO long enough to paint it black, but I have now realized it just makes more sense to buy 1 that's already the color I want.

Since i'm a 94/95 guy, I'm going to be getting a Red SHO. Black dosn't stand out as much to the "po po's" but ehh O well:evilgrin:
